I was prepping for the Sex Positive Week panel I’m on tomorrow — more on that later — and realized that over the years, I’ve really written quite a few posts ’bout condoms! Thought I’d highlight them here to — promote safer sex?
>> About the most uneco thing you can do’s produce a new American — which is why Oxfam UK lets you gift “Rubberly jubberly” condom kits — though Oxfam US feels those kits are too racy for its audience.
>> In fact, condom applicators are winning design awards. Preventing unwanted pregnancies AND the spread of HIV = qualification for exhibition at the MoMa in NYC.
>> And artists are using condoms as raw materials for their work. I don’t know that any Hollywood actor’s worn one of these condom dresses to the Oscars yet, however.
>> Yes, fair trade condoms are on the market — just not on the US market. Why does the UK get all the good stuff first?
>> Seven Wonders for a Cool Planet by Eric Sorensen lists condoms among these 7 wonders.
>> Why you shouldn’t flush condoms down the toilet: Your past eco-indiscretions may come back to haunt you — thanks to Surfrider Foundation’s guerilla anti beach pollution campaigns (right).
>> Of course, condoms have their haters, such as the anti-Inconvenient Truth dude who opined, “Condoms don’t belong in school, and neither does Al Gore.”
