>> Starbucks UK pledges to go 100% fair trade for its espresso drinks. (via change.org) That means Starbucks UK has finally caught up to Dunkin’ Donuts, whose espresso drinks have been 100% fair trade certified for years now — while Starbucks US remains behind the curve. Keep in mind that this Starbucks’ fair trade commitment doesn’t include regular, non-espresso coffee at UK or US locations, though most Starbucks in the UK do have one fair trade blend brewing every day.
>> Starbucks US is selling a couple green gifts this year though: Recycled Tumblers made with 22-28 percent post-consumer recycled content, and stainless steel water bottles, for $9.95 and $15.95, respectively. As with any other reusable mug, Starbucks will give you a dime off your drink for bringing your own container — though the mermaid still hasn’t taken my advice on just shaving a dime off the regular prices and charging a dime to those who don’t bring their own.

Green L.A. Girl,
You mention that Starbucks gives customers a 10 cent discount for bringing in their own mug. Big deal.
7/11 beats Starbucks’ discount by a long shot. Bring in your own mug to 7/11, and they’ll charge you just 99 cents (tax included!) for up to 24 oz of java.

I’m not sure that’s a v. good comparison, b/c 7/11’s coffee tastes horrible…. I’m not sure I’d even drink it for free.
