Really, it's a variable reward set up for a legitimate purpose...it's an experiment of sorts. Here's the reason: "I like people that leave comments. Comment-ary adds color + perspective that the author may not have considered...So in the spirit of giving and encouraging eco-edification via comments..." I have a lot of smart people reading my blog and sending me emails, but I'd like them to add that perspective in the comments so everyone can benefit.
