To reduce car AC use and, thereby, reducing the carbon footprint of cars, Cali Air Resource Board suggested a minimum level of reflectivity for all car paints and windows — prompting complaints and jokes about weird Californian laws, prompting CARB to shelve the cool paint idea altogether.
>> National fuel standards are going up by 2 mpg starting with 2011 models. That’ll mean 27.3 average mpgs for new cars and trucks.
>> Going beyond national standards, Cali’s trying to set stricter fuel emissions standards now that the U.S. EPA’s no longer standing in the way.
