>> Extinction sucks so dance like a bear. A new weekly web show follows two Australian girls that do crazy stuff to help save endangered species — i.e. dress up as a bear and enter a dance contest.

>> Among the species not doing so well I read about today: Chinook salmon in California (leading to a ban on commercial fishing for a 2nd year), maple syrup in the northeast (due to global climate change), cacao trees (due to monoculture farming).

>> The L.A. City Council rejected a water rate hike for water wasters, citing insufficient time to review the issue. Jessica Hall at L.A. Creek Freak brings up some interesting equity issues presented in tiered water pricing: “how do you fairly charge by household when some households have 1 person and others have 4 or more.”
