Clicklist: Expected contaminations

>> What to expect when you’re still cooking with Teflon: Infertility. “Women who had higher levels of perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in their blood took longer to become pregnant than women with lower levels.” Earlier: Is GreenPan a safe alternative to toxic Teflon?

>> What to expect when you’ve noshed on salmonella-tainted peanut butter: Tummy aches, potentially. I actually ate like 6 Lara Bars with peanut butter a few days before they were recalled — and I feel great!

>> Why the 7th and Fig Metro station was full of noxious gas on King day: The Standard Downtown. Apparently, the hotel dumped “the majority of two 50-gallon drums of muriatic acid and chlorine” down a drain. Now the hotel’s been charged “with knowingly disposing of hazardous waste. If convicted, the company could be fined up to $500,000.” Don’t dump and drive — or you’ll get sued. Earlier: Organic salad at The Standard Downtown.
