>> The State of the STD. In Slate, Sydney Spiesel summarizes the CDC’s latest stats — which basically shows most STD case rates rising. Sydney says the bigger numbers could point to easier and more aggressive testing. And since rates of infections vary by disease for different populations (men/women, gay/straight), Sydney brings up this interesting question: “These diseases are all spread the same way—so why are their epidemiological patterns so different?”
