>> Cali’s solar-power subsidies are reaching their limit. Thought there’s some talk of expanding the subsidies, you may wanna get solar now if you’ve been thinking about it. Utilities are opposing the expansion — but are also providing FREE home energy efficiency tuneups — considered a necessary first step before getting solar — to Santa Monica homeowners and businesses. Save energy and money on utility bills by taking advantage of this freebie.

And now some bad news for the rest of California:

>> 6 Cali state parks could become federal parks if state budget cuts try to close said parks. “The National Park Service has informed Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger that his budget-cutting proposal to indefinitely close 220 California state parks could compel the federal government to take control of six parks that occupy former U.S. property, including Angel Island in San Francisco Bay, Point Sur State Historic Park in coastal Big Sur and Point Mugu State Park near Malibu.”

>> 3 L.A. county lakes will be restricted to swimmers, also thanks to the Cali budget. “Starting Monday, parks officials are closing beaches at Castaic Lake State Recreation Area in Castaic, Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas and Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Sept. 7.”
