>> GOOD also has a great illustration on how to save water over the course of a day — which literally compares apples to oranges. Some of the comparisons, however, are unrealistic. Who, for example, has a lunch consists of just lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes? And why would anyone drink beer instead of wine or tea instead of coffee? (via kottke)

>> Food & Water Watch wants to give you a free water bottle. Take the nonprofit’s survey for a chance to win 1 of 25 stainless steel water bottles.
>> A long time ago I started compiling links to water-related organizations in the L.A. area. Why? I don’t remember — but in case I do one day, here they are: Heal the Bay, Surfrider Foundation, Santa Monica Baykeeper, Friends of the Los Angeles River, Orange County Coastkeeper, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, Ballona Wetlands Trust, Marine Mammal Care Center.

I liked the GOOD water-saving illustration, but agree about the somewhat skimpy lunch (but why not just go all the way on dinner and make it all veggie?). That being said, I’d always take beer and tea over wine and coffee (as long as it’s good beer and good tea).

Siel – thanks for the link to Creek Freak’s contest. The contest was definitely inspired by (or perhaps stolen from?) Green LA Girl! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (my mom used to say that… but I am sure she was quoting someone else.)

Gregory — Totally agreed — aside from the dissing of wine and coffee :P
Joe — I totally wanted to enter — I just don’t have a fave LA waterway to cite :(

Awwwww… you could say the Santa Monica Bay… or the rain coming into the gutter outside your apartment… or be really hip/elusive and say that you like the creek that ran through your neighborhood before it was paved.
I am happy to send you a free guide, too, though, even if you don’t enter the contest.

Siel – I didn’t mean to diss wine and coffee at all! They’ve just never sat well with me (and I’ve found you can get just as into obscure, high-end beers and teas if you’re into that sort of thing :)

Well I’m actually cutting back on both wine and coffee, so we’re sort of in the same boat :)
