- So on his last day to sign new bills, the Governator did a couple good things — reducing the amount of lead permissible in pipes carrying drinking water, and requiring large supermarkets to have a plastic bag recycling system.
Then, he refused to make half the cars and trucks sold in California be powered by alternative fuels by 2020 :( BTW — the governator did NOT sell his Hummers; Grist, where I initially got the info, wrote a correction (thanks Jasmin). [pic from PE]
And he refused to let us grow industrial hemp :(
- Our DWP (Dept. of Water and Power) lost the city $94.8 million by electing to own part of a coal plant despite enviro-warnings. And now, that coal plant’s gone kaput and the money’s gone. And the LA Times reports that the DWP’s still not made much progress toward green energy…
- More happily, our charismatic mayor officially launched Million Trees LA yesterday, with the goal to plant a million new trees in LA :)

That’s really disappointing about the Governator. Alt fuels for cars is probably the single most important step towards reducing global warming, which he claims to be a pioneer in fighting.

It really is amazing how he gets all these creds for being an enviro forward Republican when the idiot still owns 4 hummers –
