>> Get to the opening reception for We Ride By Night, a group exhibition of four artists’ view of Los Angeles bike culture, to catch performances by Super Karma, Telematíque and Laundromat. The event’s free but the burritos require a donation to the Burrito Project, an organization that makes and distributes burritos — on bikes! — to LA’s skid row. It all happens tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 11, from 6 pm – 9 pm at Quiksilver’s siteLA, 2522 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles.

>> Hear Food Not Lawns author Heather Flores talk about “the first step in tearing out that resource consuming lawn and putting in a productive edible garden” — then perform with her band Underscore Orkestra. It starts on Tues., Oct. 14 at 7 pm at 1923 Euclid St, Santa Monica. Cost: $5-$15 (sliding scale). For more info, email westsidepermies@gmail.com. Earlier: A review of Food Not Lawns.

>> LAX shuttle ride Flyaway is raising its fare a buck or two. Trips leaving from Westwood will cost $5, while those leaving from Van Nuys and Union Station will cost $6, beginning Jan. 1, 2009. Earlier: Flyway: Westwood to LAX in 35 minutes.
