- McMommies. Seriously — it’s McDonald’s sponsored. The fast-food giant’s put together a “Mom’s Quality Correspondents team” — 6 moms with laptops recording their “unedited” impressions of McDonald’s beginning June 20 on McDonald’s home page.
- Biotaxis rule Santa Monica — Summer rode one.. Euro Taxi has a fleet of 10 cabs running on biodiesel. Says Summer: “it was the cleanest and most pleasant taxi I’d ever been in.”
- Pencils made of recycled newspaper. from O’Bon. Apparently, these pencils are sturdier and tougher to break than your regular wooden pencils.
- McSweeney’s is in a bit of trouble. This progressive, pirate-shop owning publisher’s out $130,000 cuz their distributor went bankrupt. Now they’re holding a sale and auction — Help them out, if you can. (via kottke)
- It’s rhubarb season, apparantly. A big, yummy compilation of rhubarb recipes to tackle after your farmers’ market visit.

We have some pencils made out of recycled, retired dollar bills at the school I work at. They are harder to break than normal pencils. They are also nearly impossible to sharpen, even with an electric sharpener. It’s a logically trade-off problem.

O’Bon pencils are even easier to sharpen than wooden pencils and when sharpened, you may even be able to read the headlines. Probably not the same grade of pencils you have at school, Emma.

Sometimes I sharpen pencils with a lil penknife. It’s not hard, and it allows you to customize the length of your lead — Might be helpful for sharpening these dollar bill pencils too –
