No, we’re not talking about yet another gourmet food truck.

Seafood Watch iPhone app

>> Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Guide is an iPhone app! Any mobile device, actually, can browse the Seafood Watch Guide at a glance — which means those quickly-outdated wallet cards are now pretty much obsolete for the techy crowd. Earlier: Monterey Bay Aquarium Sustainable Seafood Guide.

>> Robin Shreeves, a fellow MNN blogger, reviews the Seafood Watch app:

When I first opened the app, it chose my region, and it chose it correctly – Northeast. It then allowed me to either click on seafood or sushi. I can search seafood either alphabetically or by rating. The ratings are easy to understand – best choice, good alternative, or avoid. It’s easy to see, for example, that I should avoid Atlantic Halibut but Pacific Halibut is a best choice.

>> East Side eaters got their own iPhone app, dubbed Eating East, which promises “contact information, pricing guidelines, and honorable reviews of over 100 restaurants, markets and wine bars for the budget-conscious, culturally-curious Angeleno.” I’m not an iPhoner and so haven’t tried it out myself, but for $1.99, you can download and give it a whirl.
