While I am all for recyclables, if whatever the Postal Service chooses to replace Tyvek isn’t as durable and tear-resistant, then it will be a green victory at the expense of reliability.
Love it or hate it, Tyvek simply does not tear easily, and when you have shipped as many items from eBay auctions as I have, you want a package that is both lightweight (to save postage) and will not come apart in transit.
If USPS replaces Tyvek with something less durable, watch a lot of their business go away. And that will mean more frequent postal rate increases …
