Clicklist: Naked itches and useful conveniences

>> Hollow used books with porn polaroids. “The women depicted are varied (ethnically and size-wise) and the pictures range from softcore to extreme hardcore. Some of the images are very bizarre, at times grotesque. At this point I’m at a loss as to what I should do with this stuff.” (via kottke)

>> Recycle your CFL bulbs at Home Depot, if you find that easier than going to your nearest S.A.F.E. center. I’ve yet to have one give out on me to recycle. You?

>> Pay utility bills via web, save $5. “The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is offering a $5 credit incentive for customers to enroll for electronic bill payment.”

>> One painful itch: I almost threw up after reading this: “One morning, after she was awakened by her bedside alarm, she sat up and, she recalled, “this fluid came down my face, this greenish liquid…. Only in the Emergency Department at Massachusetts General Hospital, after the doctors started swarming, and one told her she needed surgery now, did M. learn what had happened. She had scratched through her skull during the night—and all the way into her brain.” (via kottke)

  1. I heard about that last story on NPR. They did a feature on itching. I had to pull over I was so disgusted!

  2. Letting it (the itch) sneak up on you as you’re reading the story in the magazine is even more like a sharp blow between the shoulder blades…
