>> Want the Subway to the Sea? Vote yes on Measure R on Nov. 4. Schwarzenegger finally signed AB 2321, the bill that puts the Measure R on the ballot.

>> Graywater systems’ll save you water and money — though you’ll likely have to install the system guerilla style, sans permit. Why? It’s tough to “clear the exceptionally tall technological, financial and bureaucratic hurdles set out in Appendix G of the California plumbing code, which went into effect in 1992 at the tail end of a five-year drought.”

>> The Fashion District BID’s recycling program — which picks up more than 19 tons of recyclables weekly — got a sustainability award at the International Downtown Association’s 2008 annual conference.

>> The “greenest museum” is now open. The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco‘s got a “living green roof with native plants, insulation made from recycled blue jeans and a large canopy of solar energy panels.”
