- Obama’s coming to town on Tuesday, February 20th –
- Blogger party in LA! You must actually be a blogger to participate. Event’s free, but RSVPs are required. Party goes down on March 6 at 7 pm. (via blogging.la)
- Drivers wanted — to pay up. Looks like California’s getting more tollbooths –
- Alternative fuel grants avaliable from the California Air Resources Board, which is accepting proposals for a total $25 million in available funding from the Alternative Fuels Incentives Programs. Somewhat relatedly: Even Exxon’s talking about global warming. Chrysler’s cutting jobs due to unpopularity of gas-guzzling trucks.

What I find interesting is the accompanying graphic with the number of miles of toll roads by state. Louisiana’s 1.5 miles is, I think, a toll bridge, north of New Orleans. But where does Utah have 1 mile of toll road? Or Alabama 6, Georgia 6.2, and Nevada 6.4?

Interesting the green parties over in Europe are very much in favour of toll roads but the reason being too discourage motoring at certain times of the day to ease congestion. I.e high toll in mornings to discourage un-necessary journeys. And to encourage car-polling and public transport by having less tolls for them.

don — I’m v. curious about the toll roads too! Would be cool to see a google mashup :) simon — an time-specific toll booth seems like a pretty good idea. The toll booths on the SF bridges def. make me think twice about making the trip when I’m up there — more due to the traffic slowdown than the cost of the toll fees –
