I have non-lead hoses (intended for piping drinking water into RVs and such) for my vegetable garden. Look for white hoses at the store, and then check the label to make sure they’re safe for drinking water. (White hoses are supposed to be for drinking water, but you should always check the label.)
The green hoses in our yard are not allowed near the vegetables, and when they wear out we will probably replace them with white ones.
Note that the white hoses are flimsy, kink easily, and won’t last as long as the lead-containing green hoses. By using white hoses, we will be putting more into landfills in the long run… but at least it won’t be lead.
