Many of the Hummer and SUV drivers seem to think that the conventions of safe, courteous driving don't apply to them.

That's amazing. I just fixed an ipod that apple said was hopeless using a little screwdriver and a business card.

On the lead thing, as a parent of a toddler, I'm not particularly pleased. I'm sympathetic to the plight of the small businesses facing uncertainty caused, not by the law itself but, by the complete and utter failure of the Bush appointees to write regulations to implement the law. That's their job and they've been sitting on their hands over there for months say "I dunno what's gonna happen when the law takes effect." It's their job to decide what's going to happen. It's one of the Bush administrations final failures that's causing me to continue not to know if the toys I bring into my home are harmful - nothing to celebrate.
