Update, 1/14/09: Santa Monica City Council decided to postpone a vote on the ban — due to the threat of litigation from the plastic bag industry.

I stayed at Hotel Carlton last year! It’s quite nice, and budget friendly as well as eco friendly. I think at the time they said they were going for LEED certification as of their next renovation; I should take a look at the website and see how that’s progressing.
