>> California needs to prep for shrinkage, is basically what the California’s interagency Climate Action Team said. Sea levels could rise, 55 inches by the end of the century, meaning we need to seriously start getting ready: “limit coastal development in areas at risk from sea rise; consider phased abandonment of certain areas; halt federally subsidized insurance for property likely to be inundated; and require coastal structures to be built to adapt to climate change.”
>> L.A. curbs get slots! Those slots’ll let rainwater into “infiltration planters that divert untreated runoff from its one-way trip to the ocean, ushering it instead to landscaping that filters the water, beautifies the city, replenishes the area’s groundwater and reduces the amount of contaminants flushed from streets into the ocean.”
>> Costco sells 60W solar panel setups for less than $300. “Cheap solar power systems readily available to the unwashed masses was once something out of science fiction; today, it barely elicits a glance from shoppers stocking up on cases of pickles and TVs by the six-pack.”
>> Carbage gets upcycled into eco-houses. “Cars hold great potential when reincarnated, and their waste products — let’s call that stuff carbage — can be transformed into cleaner, greener, and cheaper houses, coming soon-ish to a subdivision near you.”

Regarding the Costco solar panels, because the vast, vast majority of Angelenos are completely clueless, ignorant and asleep at the wheel when it comes to environmental issues, it will take a long time for the take-home solar panels to catch on with the flat-screen T.V.-loving consumers.
How do I know most Angeles have a very low enviro-I.Q.? Cuz they fill the big blue bins with non-recyclables, they dump trash all over the streets of L.A. (especially in my East Hollywood neighborhood), they put their groceries in plastic bags, they don’t use their own mug to fill their lattes at Starbucks, and (unless they’re poor immigrants who use the bus) they continue commuting to work in (mostly) SUVs.
