>> Free fruit trees from TreePeople — including patio container trees! You do need to be part of a community organization, either from a low-income community OR an orchard at an educational facility, to take advantage of this deal. Apply to pick up your trees (PDF) from locations in South Bay, the San Fernando Valley, and East Los Angeles.

>> TreePeople’s also revived “Once Upon a Canyon Night”, a summer outdoor season of live entertainment and classes in the park. Picnic at the S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre, then enjoy the performances and classes (PDF). General admission tickets range from $15 – $30.

>> “Sizzle: A Global Warming Comedy” came out in July — and while I’ve been wary of so-called enviro-related comedies, this film actually looks really funny, now that I’ve watched the interview with the director, below.
