Today started off with my reading Tom Philpott’s post in Grist about how our banking system’s totally fucked, which made me want to crawl back into bed with a bottle of tempranillo. I resisted that urge and made it through my Google Reader — and here’s the more upbeat stuff I found:
>> Nerve put together a list of Valentine’s Alternatives for the Terminally Lonely. Alternative 12: “Let it all out in the Nerve Dating Confessions. ‘I am worried that this Saturday being Valentine’s Day will lessen my chances of hooking up.’ Can you relate?”
>> Will Campbell schooled a Glendale Apple store employee on basic computer stuff, then wrote this post: “Now I Really Need To Look Up The Word “Genius” Because In The Context That Apple Uses It To Describe Their Service Personnel It Really Doesn’t Mean That.”
>> Speaking of geniuses: Happy birthday Darwin! Earlier: Poems I wrote with “Darwin” in the titles.
>> Zach Behrens at LAist wrote a post titled “Is it Still Free to Park Your Hybrid Car at Meters? No.” I read it, and clicked over to comment — only to see someone had already said what I was going to. Wrote benh57: “So, what you mean to say is: Is it Still Free to Park Your Hybrid Car @ Meters? Yes. Till March.” benh57 is correct — and made me laugh. I may have an odd sense of humor.
