Clicklist: Vegan love

Posted by Siel in clicklist (Tuesday January 27, 2009 at 10:12 am)

I make fun of vegans from time to time here — mainly because I don’t think meat is murder, I don’t think all vegan stuff’s automatically eco-friendly as many vegans will claim, and I think PETA’s wack. However, because I’m a pescatarian who’s lactose intolerant and hates cooking fish, the vast majority of my meals are actually vegan and vegan restaurants are some of my faves. Thus, some happy vegan stuff — preceded by wack PETA stuff:

‘Veggie Love’: PETA’s Banned Super Bowl Ad

>> Continuing it’s long tradition of objectifying women to promote going vegan, PETA proudly brags that its ad showing mostly naked women rubbing themselves with veggies got banned by the Superbowl. (via The Vibe)

>> If you prefer sex with people, not veggies: Where to Buy Your Vegan Condoms In LA. Australia’s Glyde condoms are available at Hollywood’s new green 7-11, Locali.

>> Easy Vegan Chocolate Fondue. Summer made this stuff for our inauguration cocktail party earlier this month — and it was a great hit! A lot of people said that they couldn’t tell the difference between the vegan and nonvegan versions.

  1. Oh PETA, they do actually do some good work for animal welfare from time to time, but their shock and awe marketing really needs to go.

I can’t wait to check out Locali though, it’s right by my girlfriends place.

  2. PETA’s ad inspired me to go out do a barley grass shot

  3. A photo I took of steamy vegetables on a grill a long time ago all of sudden started getting search engine hits from people looking for sexy vegetables.
