Clicklist: Water, books, and Copernicus

  • Angelenos urged to save water. Mayor Villaraigosa wants to see a 10% drop in water consumption, cuz we’ve got a dry season coming. The LAT article offers some water conservation tips; Santa Monica people might get started by getting a free rain barrel.
  • Santa Monica gets a new used bookstore called Kulturas Bookstore at the corner of Ocean Park Boulevard and 17th St. I plan to drop by soon –
  • 83% of Americans feel interracial dating’s OK. Which means 17% does not. However, “about 18% of Americans are in the “Sun moves around the Earth” camp. A full 8% prudently declined to have an opinion, leaving only 74% to go along with Copernicus.” We are stupid.
  • Brooklynites beware (Jasmin, that’s you!). “The largest oil spill in American history is apparently: 1) in New York City, 2) nearly a century old, and 3) beginning to re-surface under Greenpoint, Brooklyn.” (illustration by Jason Lee for New York Magazine)
