>> It’s bicyclist civil disobedience on Santa Monica crosswalks. Angry about SMPD’s 14 citations of Santa Monica Critical Mass riders, bicyclists got together to legally walk their bikes on crosswalks — for 40 mins straight. “After five minutes one well dressed motorist got out of his car and said he was taking his pregnant wife to the hospital, and demanded we let him through. We all agreed, but as the man walked back to his luxury sedan, one participant noticed that there was no one else in his luxury sedan.”

>> It’s “Walk this Way” week at Ecolocalizer, which’ll be discussing all things walkable. “James Howard Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency and A World Made by Hand, sees us entering what he calls “the twilight of Happy Motoring.” As fossil fuels become more expensive and harder to obtain, he says, the U.S. population will have to return to more human-scale communities.” Earlier: Walking in LA with Google Maps, Walkscore
>> It’s all about the Puente Hillsland fill at the Center of Land Use Interpretation in Culver city right now. Jacy Young of LAist visited the landfill and put together a photo essay. “On the approach, it’s a terraced green hill, with trees and grass, even flowers. It’s full of wildlife — deer and squirrels and coyotes.”

So glad to see them standing up to the SMPD, that whole thing was crap. I am sorry I already moved, that would have been quite a sight to see though!
