The stimulus bill sends some money our way, but the state, city and individual companies just can’t or won’t pick up their share of the tab.

>> Big Blue Bus will get $12.8 million from the stimulus package, which it’ll use to buy 10 new hybrid buses for the Mini Blue lines, 3 bigger buses for the Rapid 3 and Rapid 7 lines, and up to three big alternative fueled buses to replace some older diesel buses. The hybrid buses’ll come from ElDorado National, a local bus manufacturer in Riverside County. To the right are a couple of the possible designs — Which do you like better?
>> The Dodger shuttle’s no more. “The Dodgers will not cover the cost of shuttle service from Union Station to Dodger Stadium, team owner Frank McCourt said Thursday, portraying the issue as a small part of a public transit puzzle McCourt expects local government to solve.” Sad.
>> LA Department of Transportation’s finances aren’t looking good, thanks to budget cuts. “LADOT officials estimated that the city’s transportation dollars from Proposition A, which fund LADOT’s transit services and other things, would be in the red starting sometime in 2010.”
