I find it less stressful without a car in LA. I never have to worry about parking and car expenses. When a car is needed I have Enterprise and Avis are a few blocks away. I find that downtown is one of the few places that doesn't require a car. Santa Monica/Venice area may qualify as well, if you have a bike. I’ve been carless for a couple of years in LA.
