[Here's step 1 and step 2 and step 3]
Usually I have a friend drop me off at the airport, or — if my flight’s at a weird time — take Primetime shuttle. But now that I’m in Santa Monica, I thought I should consider taking the bus.
So this morning I walked a block to the the #3 Big Blue Bus stop, just a block from my place. 5 minutes later, I was on the bus (pic left).
A half hour later, the bus deposited me safely at the LAX Transit Center. I waited for a couple minutes with a small group of other bus-taking jet setters (pic right) and the free airport shuttle showed up.
Don’t be confused, BTW, by the fact that the shuttle carries a sign that says “Airport Parking.” I got on (pic left), and 10 minutes later was dropped off at Terminal 7.
Total time: about 45 mins, including walking time. Total cost: 75 cents. I recommend it, and plan on taking the bus on the way back too :)
Thanks to all my friends who offered to give me a ride to the airport though :)
Update, 6/3/06: All de-car-ing posts here :)
Update, 3/22/07: Another bus option to the airport is the Flyaway shuttle, which’ll take you from Union Station to LAX for just $3.

Have fun in Arizona, Siel :-) Please don’t get burned…a tan is ok. I can’t wait to read your posts about cool green stuffs there…Great, that the bus system didn’t disappoint you this time, and you’re a such self-sufficient person ;-)

I used sunscreen like a good girl :) The Big Blue Bus system’s generally much more efficient than the MTA system, though BBB’s #12 line’s not quite up to par somehow…
