Deborah Lindquist’s NoHo boutique: Green Queen Ts to cashmere cards

Deborah Lindquist‘s best known for her eco-luxe wedding gowns, upcycled bustiers, and goth-meets-girly green cashmere sweaters. But for 2010, the green fashion designer’s gone more casual — and more budget-friendly — with a new line of ” Green Queen” organic cotton shirts. For $40, you can get one of three designs — crewneck, one-shoulder, or tank — all made of very light, summer-friendly organic cotton. To the right is me wearing one of the designs, with Deborah.

The “Green Queen” line isn’t available online yet, but if you live in the Los Angeles area, you can pick one up at Deborah Lindquist’s new boutique-and-studio in North Hollywood. Deboarah opened this new spot on Lankershim Blvd. — as of yet sign-less, though decorated with living greenery — after closing down the bigger store on Magnolia Blvd. The cozier space features the T-shirt line up front — as well as items from Deborah’s indie-concertgoer friendly “Rocker girl meets the Gypsy” collection and green-with-an-edge “Goth Girl Goes to the Country” line.

Love Deborah’s upcycled girly goth styles — but can’t afford the $300-$400 price tag for the cute applique cashmere sweaters? Attend Deborah’s next DIY Sweater Party! Deborah threw the first of these over the weekend, letting eco-fashionistas each bring in a boring old sweater and giving them hands-on lessons on how to spice these duds up with recycled cashmere appliques. Sign up for Deborah’s email list, and you’ll find out when her next class is. Depending on the complexity of the applique design you choose, the applique will cost between $25 to $75.

Or if you’ve got two left hands and are DIY-scared, you can own an upcycled cashmere sweater for $12 — in eco-friendly card form. Made from recycled cashmere and paper, these cute, one-of-a-kind handmade cards all have unique designs. Below’s the one I picked out. Stop by Deborah’s studio to pick up one of your own.

Deborah Lindquist studio and boutique. 5657 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood. 818.762.7199. Mon – Fri, 9 am – 5 pm.
