Yes, that’s a urinal in an art exhibit, but it’s not exactly an homage to Duchamp. At the Do It Now: Live Green exhibit at Otis, form meets function: waterless urinal and low-flow toilet style.

The idea behind the exhibit: To showcase the products available NOW to turn your home green.

The opening reception on Saturday brought out everyone from biodiesel fans to design students. The gallery’s loosely laid out as a house with different rooms — partitioned with colorful, swaying walls made of repurposed plastic bags

The green furniture includes everything from the sorta-crunchy to the super-sleek. Much of it comes from Livingreen in Culver City, and much of it’s rather pricy — but well-designed, high-quality, long-lasting pieces.

Eco-skateboards and surf boards decorate the walls, along with some environmentally-inspired paintings —

This pink gown’s designed by an Otis student, but most of the clothes’re from well-known green companies like Patagonia, Stewart+Brown, Loomstate, and Natural High Lifestyles — plus Sonic Fabric!

For the opening reception, Plastic Bag Monsters (super heroes?) joined the crowd.

The male one slunked around arachnid style in a red mask, while the female one, last I saw her, was mingling like just another gallery visitor, biodegradable cup of wine in hand –
