Dutton’s and Book Sense

If you’re buying books for people on your holiday gift list, let me suggest again that you get the books at your local bookstore.

This is super easy now, with BookSense — a marketing effort to promote indie bookstores. All you have to do to find a nice local bookstore is go on the site and plug in your zip :)

My closest one: Dutton’s Brentwood. I wanted to get The Coffee Book for my sis — so I called first to see if they had it. They didn’t, but ordered it for me — and 2 days later gave me a call letting me know it’d arrived :)

So I dropped in and bought the book and browsed a bit — and found some nice recycled Mudlark cards :)

I know Amazon can be convenient, but shopping at an indie bookstore is so much more fun! Plus you keep money in your local economy — it’s an act of kindness to your ‘hood! :)

Here’s a list of some of my favorite indie bookstores in LA :)

Update, 1/27/07: Dutton’s Brentwood might have to close up!
