Siel and Summer love holidays (see Halloween, left), but thought earth day’d lost its luster. But after a funny (yet relevant!) earth day brainstorm during happy hour on Friday, they just had to put them in e-print. So here we go:

Cut it up. It’s gettin’ warm in here, so cut up all your clothes. Snip up your out-of-date duds, and turn them into summer sassiness — Muscle tanks, belted off-the shoulder tees, and bermuda cutoffs. Don’t wanna DIY? Take it to the savviest tailor in town and get an all revamped wardrobe that’s easy on pocketbook and easy on the earth.

Walk off that wanderlust. Get outta that car and hit the gritty glory of the urban streets in your sexiest vintage strappies. Let the city’s sidewalks kiss your feet, and not only will you avoid that ugly road rage hangover, you’ll get to your party with a dewy, cocktail-ready, ocean-intoxicated face — and you’ll never have to feel guilty about enjoying that last pink cosmo.

Get wet. Forget the frigid A/C during the next heatwave. Don your string bikini and head to the nearest pool, beach, or lake. Or if you like it cold, chill out at pre-cooled hotspots — movies, malls, Monsoon Cafe‘s happy hour — whatever cools you off.

Create a spark. Looking to strike up a conversation with the nice looking bartender or barista? Now’s your chance to drop a couple hints. Ask the hottie if they serve fair trade coffee, organic vodka, or farmer’s market salad greens. A little activism from discerning customers in stilettos goes a long way.

Get greasy. Embrace that morning-after look all day long, by ditching the daily shower. Ask any hairdresser and (s)he’ll tell you not to wash your tousled locks before your next big date. Because pre-loved volume and manageability is hot, and easy on the earth — half the water and hair product with all the love.
