Electrified by Obama’s big win — and the upcoming inauguration? Then join Plug In America’s electric parade, dubbed Inaugural (EV) Parade West: Plug In, America!” featuring 55 electric vehicles, including Teslas, RAV4 EVs, Vectrix bikes, Chevy S10s and conversions.
When: Sat., Jan. 17, 9 am - sometime before noon
Where: Santa Monica Civic Auditorium parking lot, 1885 Main St., Santa Monica
Since Plug In America wasn’t picked to be part of the Presidential Inaugural Parade, the EV fans are having their own here — and hoping for simultaneous mini-EV-parades across the country. The goal: To celebrate Obama’s inauguration while “urging Congress, Detroit and our new president to build plug-in vehicles — calling for 1 million plug-ins by 2012 and 15 million by 2016,” according to Plug In America.
EV owners and fans alike are invited to participate by getting to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium by 9 am to show support for EVs. A press conference at 9:30 am will kick off the fun. Then the EVs will parade through Santa Monica! Chris Paine, the director of Who Killed the Electric Car? whom I interviewed here, will have a crew present shooting footage for the sequel, The Revenge of the Electric Car.
Find out more about the parade at Plug In America’s website or Facebook page.
