Elle Eco-Style Station to pamper L.A. locavores in May

Posted by Siel in beauty, events, fashion (Thursday April 30, 2009 at 1:29 pm)

Locavoring Angelenos will get a special beauty treat in May. A self-described “eco-chic cabana” called ELLE Eco-Style Station will launch at the Brentwood Farmers’ Market and Pacific Palisades Farmers’ Market over four weekends, offering free beauty treatments and product samples.

When and where:
>> Sundays, May 3 and May 10, 9 am – 2:30 pm at Brentwood Farmers’ Market, 741 South Gretna Green Way, Los Angeles.
>> Sundays, May 17 and May 24, 8 am – 1 pm, Pacific Palisades Farmers’ Market, 1037 Swarthmore Ave., Los Angeles.

Visitors will get on-the-go pedicures using “all-natural” nail polish (no details as to what “all-natural” may mean) and hand massages (only at the Pacific Palisades Farmers’ Market). According to Elle, the cabanas will highlight eco-fashions and “the brands that use natural, sustainable and organic materials.” Those brands would be Elle’s sponsors — Juice Beauty, Birkenstock, Soy Joy and Burt’s Bees.

The stations are timed to celebrate ELLE’s annual May Green Issue — which, according to Elle, is also the magazine’s first ever Blue issue. I take that to mean water-related environmental issues will be given a nod in the ‘zine.
