Latest from Emerald City, my enviro-blog at LAtimes.com

>> Greenopia 2.0 and trees as acupuncture for the city. The new version of LA’s eco-guide may not have hit the stores yet, but that didn’t stop Greenopia from throwing a party to celebrate it. So last night I went back to the Wired LivingHome for Greenopia’s “Eco-Salon: A Celebration of L.A.’s Top Green Businesses.”

>> ‘How to Cook Your Life’: Slow food and a little zen. Is cooking the new meditation? Or maybe it’s the age-old meditation. This quirky film loosely focuses on Edward’s life as a baker, cook and Buddhist, with food and cooking serving as a synecdoche for one’s life.

>> A cellphone service with a green mission. How to turn your cellphone service a little greener: Switch to Credo Mobile, Working Assets’ phone service. Most people have heard of Working Assets’ long distance, but don’t know that they have a cellphone service. Well, they do — I’ve had it for a little over a year now.

Plus — a few linky posts:
>> Greenlist: A couple of searches, then shiny animal bots!
>> Greenlist: Questions
>> Daily Downers: Greenwashing gets smarter, sorta

  1. Re Working Assets: Just be sure to pay your bill on time. They’ll sling your ass over to a collection agency in seconds flat if you’re late with a bill.

  2. I thought you said that happened like a decade ago when their customer service wasn’t up to part yet. I’ve actually been late — a mix up with the auto payment I was trying to set up — and they were v. nice about it –

  3. It happened to us ages ago, yes. But a friend told me that they did it to her over the summer, so I think it’s a current policy. I wish it weren’t — I like the idea of Working Assets.

  4. I really doubt that, because then I would’ve had to deal with a collection agency too.

  5. Okay… maybe my friend wasn’t telling the full story.
