Emerald City: Waterland

Latest from Emerald City, my enviro-blog at LAtimes.com

This week’s eco-topic: Water! In celebration of World Water Day, coming up on March 22, it’s Water Week at Emerald City!

>> Walk for Water: A Stroll by the beach becomes activism. Celebrate World Water Day tomorrow by taking a little walk by the Santa Monica Beach. Walk for Water — an awareness-raising event “inspired by the 3-6 mile journey women and children make every day in water stressed countries” — kicks off tomorrow at 9:30 am at the Santa Monica Pier.

>> World Water Day gets a concert in Second Life. Can’t (or don’t want to) travel to see the global water crisis first-hand? Then just have your Second Life avatar walk over to the WaterPartners Village to see it in a simulated digital world. Here’s a clip of what that Second Life visit might look like:

And a few linky posts:

>> A.M. Greenlist: Fights over junk mail, bike paths
