Fair Trade Month isn’t until next month, but LA’s kicking off the festivities a few days early with Fair Trade LA’s Fair Trade Festival.

When: Sunday, September 28, 2008, 8 am – 2 pm
Where: Adjacent to the Hollywood Farmers’ Market, 1500 Vine St., Los Angeles
Cost: Free!
There’ll be live music and lots of fair trade, sweatshop-free, and local goods for sale. Last year’s festival brought together everyting from eco-friendly and fair trade lotions and soaps from Anti-Body, to sweatshop-free, union-made T-shirts and caps from No Sweat, to soccer and volleyballs from Fair Trade Sports.
What’s fair trade? Find out more here — or join Fair Trade LA, a “coalition of concerned citizens and groups in the Los Angeles who have come together with a common goal: social and environmental justice around the world,” whose meetings I’d still attend if they were held on this side of the 405….
