So a lotta students tell me they’re visual learners. It’s something I’m open to — except that many students who claim this are just too lazy to read or write.

But — For people into fair trade who’re visual learners or think you are: You’re lucky, cuz you’ve got a lotta options for learning about fair trade visually. Check out this list of videos, arranged in order of Siel’s preference:

Black Gold. This film, which juxtaposes the crushing poverty of Ethiopian coffee farmers with the $4 dollar latte drinkers of the Western world, conveys the message behinid fair trade in an inspiring, non-didactic way. The film hits theaters in NY and Seattle in October — so go see it if you live there! My review’s here.

Make Trade Fair. This Oxfam film (under 7 mins) “includes a number of short clips with footage of farmers and others in poor countries, illustrating some of the primary reasons to make trade fair.” You can download the whole film (wmv) here.

Buyer Be Fair: The Promise of Product Certification. This video says it’ll “explore how conscious consumers and businesses can use the market to promote social justice and environmental sustainability through product labeling, with a focus on Fair Trade coffee and Forest Stewardship Council certified wood.” You can order the film via Bullfrog Films. Sadly, I haven’t seen it yet — Anyone have a copy to share? [Update, 9/23/06: I got a copy of the film! A review's here.]

Fair Trade : The Story. This almost-9-min video from TransFair USA’s intended to help people better understand what fair trade products’re about. You can view free online!

Know of other fair trade films I don’t know of? Lemme know –
