Twice-weekly green giveaways.
Enjoy a green night out at the movies envisioning a post-petroleum future! Today’s giveaway winner will get a pair of tickets to a screening of One Hundred Mornings — plus a related green panel titled “Lighter footsteps: A discussion on sustainable living, the future, and socially conscious filmmaking” — at the Downtown Independent on the night of Tue., Sep. 21.
As I wrote about briefly last month, One Hundred Mornings focuses on two couples hiding out at a lakeside cabin in Ireland, 10 weeks after all the lights have gone out. In addition to the stress of dwindling supplies and social unrest enter both a self-sufficient hippie neighbor and suspicions of infidelity!
Pick from either the 7:30 pm or 9:30 pm screening at the Downtown Independent, 251 S. Main St., Los Angeles. And enjoy the green panel — happening between the screenings at about 9 pm, featuring One Hundred Mornings writer and director Conor Horgan, Dan Wong from Transition LA, and Dale Roy Robinson from PGA Green.
Tickets are available for $10 each at Brown Paper Tickets, but leave a comment for a chance to win a pair. Since the screening and panel happen Tue., Sep. 21, comment by Sat., Sep. 18 to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Sun., Sep. 19 (more info on freebies here).

I went to the opening last night, and it was a very good film. As a personal friend to Conor, I may be a little biased, but I wholeheartedly recommend this film. It’s quiet and subtle, but with hefty doses of suspense and tension. The film has a remarkable and haunting resonance; the characters will stay with you long after the credits roll.

A friend of mine also went to the opening and said the film was highly engaging. I can’t wait to see it.
