Friday freebies: Guayaki Yerba Mate prize pack

Posted by Siel in freebies (Friday June 19, 2009 at 7:35 am)

A twice-weekly sharing of eco-shwag.

guayaki by you.

The lucky winner of today’s freebie will get DOUBLE all the Guayaki Yerba Mate products pictured above.

That’s right — One green LA girl reader will get a 12-bottle case of ready-to-drink mate elixirs, 2 bags of San Mateo loose, and 4 boxes of tea bags. The flavors won’t be exactly like the ones pictured; each box of tea bags will be of a different flavor, for example. You’ll get enough mate to keep you going for a long, long time –

These tasty mate drinks from Guayaki actually help regrow rainforests. Because the fair trade organic yerba mate Guayaki sells is grown sustainably under the rainforest canopy, sales of Guayaki’s product basically makes environmental conservation and restoration financially viable. Farmers get a monetary incentive to conserve the rainforest that’s there and to restore what’s been lost.

Read my profile and review of Guayaki and its products — then comment by Tuesday to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wednesday (more info on freebies here). US addresses only.

  2. I’ve had their loose leaf yerba mate before, and it’s delicious. Everything here looks equally yummy, and I’m impressed with their commitment to the rainforests – they’re actually DOING something rather than just saying they’re helping.

  3. What an awesome product line! The destruction of the rainforest has always been one of my biggest environmental concerns, so it makes me so glad to see that people are starting to give back to it instead of taking it away.

  5. Been wanting to try the San Mateo. I heart the biodegradable bulk bags! So far, the only other product I’ve had that comes in a similar type of compostable bag was coffee from Larry’s Beans. Thanks for the op!

  19. I got into drinking mate after visiting Uruguay and Argentina where practically everyone obsessively carries around thermoses of hot water and gourds of the stuff. I think it’s great–I’m a fan of the traditional mate.

  21. Yes, Siel, I’d love this eco-shwag.

I drank yerba mate while living in Chile for 2.5 years. It’s so yummy and a wonderful alternative to coffee. I want to give some to my co-workers.
