A twice-weekly sharing of eco-shwag.

Yes, I realize it’s not Friday — but I forgot to put this freebie up last week. Today’s giveaway is a “Lions Are Smarter Than I Am” Threadless T-shirt — size “Girly Small.”
The good news: Threadless is currently having its $10 sale, which means that for eco-themed T-shirt enthusiasts, this and every other T-shirt on Threadless can be yours for a mere $10.
The bad news: Earlier this year, Threadless ran a Threadless Loves Green design contest with a promise to print the winning designs on organic cotton. Unfortunately, that promise didn’t become a permanent thing, which means that today’s T-shirt giveaway is printed on conventional cotton.
At this point, I know way too much about the ills of conventional cotton to be able to continue doing these giveaways. Cheap T-shirts are nice, and eco-themed cheap T-shirts are nicer — but we’re still talking about T-shirts that create serious agrichemical pollution, shocking water waste, and the like.
Organic cotton’s no longer a rarity, and Threadless is big enough to at least offer organic cotton as an option. Until Threadless makes that option available, I will no longer be buying from the site, or running freebies featuring Threadless products on this site. I hope you’ll do the same — and if you’re a fan of Threadless, hope you’ll let them know about your decision.
I know — I should’ve gotten more details about the T-shirts before letting Threadless send samples for giveaway — but at least I know better know. Comment by Tuesday to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wednesday (more info on freebies here). US addresses only.

Enter me please! Thanks!

Bummer that it isn’t on the right cotton but a cute shirt nonetheless. It serves as a good reminder to keep those things in mind. Thanks!

Definitely count me in! Love Threadless. Almost all the graphic tees I own are Threadless.

It is a shame that conventional cotton was used to make this shirt, but it is really cute! I’d like to have it.

That is so interesting that they didn’t use organic cotton, cuz they CLAIM that is EXACTLY what they use on their website. Hmmm.
Writing about this on my new Green Design blog;
thanks girl, u really hunt down the hard eco truth!
