A weekly sharing of eco-shwag!
More shwag from the Living with Ed premiere gift bag! This week, it’s a bottle of Pangea Organics Massage & Body Oil. This is the Italian White Sage & Geranium scent — 4 fl. oz. of organic, paraben-free therapy.
The coolest thing (in my opinion) about this massage oil is not the oil itself, but the box it comes in. The box has seeds of Genovese “Italian” sweet basil embedded in it. Flatten the box, moisten and plant — and a couple months later, you’ll be ready to harvest from your basil garden!
To get it: You MUST make a good-faith promise to plant the box (optional: send me pics once it sprouts). All who’re willing to commit to a basil garden can simply leave a comment or send me an email by midnight on Sunday letting me know you’ll garden for massage oil. Drawing will take place on Monday morning.

Yes, absolutely I promise to garden. I grew lots of sunflowers in my friend’s SFV yard the last few years–so I have a spot!

I’d take the box if someone else wanted the massage oil…

Cargo Cosmetics has also just released a version of this carton for its PlantLove project. The Cargo carton also contains seeds and can be planted. The carton’s also made from corn and is biodegradable. $2 from each sale goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Available at Sephora.

You bet I’ll plant the box! I compost as well and promise to foliar spray the basil with worm tea.
Be well and thanks

WILL GROW BASIL FOR MASSAGE OIL. We use lots of fresh herbs and, while rosemary, lavender, bay and mints can be found just outside the door, we just buy our basil. We promise to plant it, grow it, send you a photo, and eat well.
Thanks, Siel!

Italian sweet basil…YUM! I would love to grow it and make sauce with homegrown tomatoes. I promise to send photos from seed to harvest. I’ll even send photos of the finished sauce!
