The Practecol Energy Monitor is an electricity consumption meter that tells you exactly what your electronics are costing you to use them. Simply plug the monitor into any 3-prong wall outlet — then plug your electronic or appliance into it. The LCD screen will display your gadget’s kilowatt hour consumption — and cost.

Maybe if I had one of these I could finally convince my boyfriend to be more consistent about turning off his electronics when he is not using them.

I always get on my fiance about his computer and music equipment using enough power to run the neighborhood. I’d love to have this to prove his wasteful habits.

oh, these are sweet! The library where I used to live (Ann Arbor, MI) loaned these out to patrons. I found it super useful for reducing my electricity use.

I would love to use this to show my husband (who is not so eco-minded as me) how much money he’s wasting when he leaves the TV on, or the radio, or the computer, or all of the above!

If I can show my parents what the old fridge in the garage costs to use I know I would convince them to get rid of it. This would be very useful indeed.
