A twice-weekly sharing of eco-shwag.
Three lucky green LA girl readers will each get a Green Back to School Kit from Sustainable Group — a $44.99 value!

The eco-kit — with binders, notebooks, and other office-school related stuff all made with 85 – 100% post-consumer recycled materials — has attracted some strange controversy since I wrote about it last week. I hope most green LA girl readers agree that ungreenwashed, practical eco-products are worth making — even if not all of us have the financial freedom to always pick the greenest option.
Comment by Tuesday to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Wednesday (more info on freebies here). If you’re in need of back-to-school products and honestly can’t afford to pay extra for the greener products from Sustainable Group but prefer not to buy the forest-destroying conventional stuff, mention that in the comments and you’ll get a second entry into the drawing. US addresses only.

UCLA summer school session c starts in < 2 weeks so this would come in pretty handy….. Please enter me in the drawing ;-)

I have two sons that will be heading back to school. One is a high school senior and the other a junior in college! Just thinking about having two in college is a little scary! The Greener Sustainable products are expensive no matter where I look! These would be great for one of my boys.
Please consider me in your drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

Another fantastic giveaway. And really well timed! I was really thinking of buying this kit for the new semester (about to start grad school!) But wasn’t sure I could pony up the cost required. (Not that I’m so in need that I deserve one of those second entries, so don’t take that comment that way, I don’t need it that badly!)

What a great idea for back to school, or for my desk. :)

We are given a tight budget to purchase school supplies, and because of that, we can’t but many things that are actually past 10% post-consumer content. I’m reusing a lot from previous years, but things that can’t be replaced (such as pens and notebooks) can get pretty un-eco and expensive. Also, everything look pretty sturdy, unlike “conventional” school supplies.
Thanks for providing this great opportunity to get some durable and environmentally safe school supplies. I would use it proudly and well!

We absolutely luv the ECO recycled/sustainable products! They are a bit more expensive, but that will soon be a thing of the past, as everyone else jumps in!(fingers crossed) Not only do we luv the idea and reasons for them, but we also luv the “look”! They’re so simple, so clean and so natural! We need to get “back to the basics” not only with our “back to school” products, but with EVERYTHING! Thank you for giving us all the opportunity and a chance to win these fab products, as it’s always nice to win something! ;)

I’m starting a new business that collaborates with green thinkers … so working with eco-friendly desk products would make a very good first impression (and could potentially pique my clients’ interest)!

What an awesome product! I teach at a nature center and would love to use eco-cred stuff. I’ve always wanted to buy eco-friendly office supplies but have a hard time finding ones “green” enough for me. Currently, I just have post-consumer recycled paper and try to make my binders last as long as possible.
