A twice-weekly sharing of eco-shwag.
Today’s giveaway’s an Ironweed Films DVD of The Breast Cancer Diaries, a documentary that TV newsperson Ann Murray Paige decided to create when she got diagnosed with breast cancer at 38.
Ann opts for a double masectomy, then undergoes chemo and radiation; her documentary chronicles her harrowing, and in the end hopeful and courageous, experience. Anne luckily is financially secure and has a close-knit and supportive family and help of caring doctors to help her through this difficult time — which makes me wonder how much more horrendous the experience for someone without those comforts.
The DVD comes bundled with a moving 53-minute documentary about 3-time Pulizer-winning political cartoonist Paul Conrad, and 10 less moving amateur videos from the Convenient Truths contest TreeHugger and Seventh Generation held way back when.
Comment or email by Sunday to get into the drawing, which happens Monday. US addresses only.

My grandmother and 2nd cousin are both suffering from cancer, colon & lymphoma, respectively. As I get older (I’m 37) I realize my odds of getting breast cancer increase, though it could happen to anyone. One of my best friends found a lump (she’s 41) and we were both paralyzed with fear about it, but luckily it was benign. Those scary moments taught us to 1) cherish those we love now cause you never know and 2) take better care of our bodies, meaning what goes IN and ON them. Prayers to anyone touched by the “c”.
