Friday freebies: Women In Green Forum full registration pass

Posted by Siel in environment, events, freebies (Friday August 6, 2010 at 7:24 am)

Twice-weekly green giveaways.

Women In Green Forum logoToday’s giveaway drawing’s one every green career-minded woman — and green man too — will want to enter. One lucky green LA girl reader will win a full registration pass to Women In Green Forum, a 2-day conference focused on women’s environmental careers.

This first ever Women In Green Forum — happening Wed., Sept. 1 and Thurs., Sept. 2 at the Pasadena Convention Center — is shaping up to be an inspiring and educational event. The conference will bring together the California women who are movers and shakers in the environmental field, from Mary Nichols, chair of the California Air Resources Board, to Mariel Hemingway, actress and author of Mariel’s Kitchen.

You’ll get to hear from women working in politics, Fortune 500 companies, sustainable food, the nonprofit sector, and of course, show business. Los Angeles Councilwoman Jan Perry, celeb and eco-actress Amy Smart, Interface’s director of sustainable services Melissa Vernon — plus women leaders in Surfrider Foundation, Union of Concerned Scientists, and many other nonprofits, companies, and groups — will all take the podium during the two days.

For career seekers, a “Future Leaders” session will provide 20 minute overviews of various industry sectors — and a Networking Roundtable Breakout Session will let attendees discuss specific career tracks in small groups.

The conference will also feature an eco-fashion show, a clean vehicle ride and drive, and an eco-expo showcasing the latest green products. A full registration costs $250 in advance or $300 at the door — but one lucky green LA girl reader will get to go free!

Want to go? First, make sure you can clear your schedule Sept. 1 – 2, then comment by Thurs., Aug. 12 to get into the drawing, which’ll happen Fri., Aug. 13 (more info on freebies here). U.S. addresses only.

  10. This sounds like the opportunity I’ve been waiting for! I’m looking to follow my passion for the environment (and for animals!) by finding a career which shares those values. I can’t afford to pay for this conference but it seems that it would be an invaluable experience to learn about opportunities in the “green” realm, and great for networking! Thanks for your consideration!
