I noticed a recurring ad in LA Weekly for GeoGreen BioFuels, which encourages restaurants to “Recycle your cooking oil free”: “Join us in creating an environmentally friendly and abundant energy source, made from your waste cooking oil.”
Interesting! According to the website, GeoGreen BioFuels’ll pick up your used grease for free, then remake it into biodiesel. The company never seems to picks up its phone though — and today, the phone’s actually hanging up on me before I can leave a message — so I haven’t been able to find out more yet — what restaurants are involved, where the grease is going to be resold, etc.
I did discover, however, that GeoGreen Biofuels has no relation to GeoGreen Fuels in Texas, because the Texas company does answer its phones. “No, we’re not related to them at all,” said the woman I spoke with. “I thought they were going to change their name. I don’t know what happened.”
We’ll see of GeoGreen Biofuels answers its email –

Hi folks,
Yes, GeoGreen Biofuels will pick up used cooking oil from restaurants for free and turn it into clean-burning biodiesel–this is local, sustainable biodiesel production! We are in the process of building our network of partnering restaurants, and will be listing all of our partners on our website as local leaders in sustainability. If you own a restaurant, know someone who does, or would just like more information about our operation, please feel free to contact me at kristen@geogreenbiofuels.com
