One professor in the English department has cute lil dolls for Socrates, Freud, and the like. I had to ask where he got ‘em — Turns out they’re from The Unemployed Philosopher’s Guild.
The slogan on the catalog: “You live in woeful times, you need funny things.
And their stuff really is funny! There’s a Smush Bush, for example, which is a lil foam stress ball in the shape of dubya. You can squeeze him to work out the anxiety whenever you’re “stressed about the radical right-wing agenda in this country.”
Freud and his couch makes me laugh for no particular reason…
So the products aren’t so eco, but the Guild offers the Global Warming Mug: “Have you wondered what the world would look like after the polar ice caps melt? Now see it over a cup of coffee.”
Check out the site for a laugh whenever you feel woeful –

their calvin & hobbes t-shirt is hilarious!
something more sinister is this deck of cards:

since you have shown such interest in a certain mermaid: http://www.areyougeneric.org/ have done (and still are doing?) culture jams / adbusting of the same.

Thanks for the links, Johan :) Did you see the new issue of GOOD? There’s a whole section on culture jamming in there, complete with a historical timeline. A fun read!
