Culver City isn’t actually that far — it’s about 7 miles from me. But taking the bus there takes a full hour, as I discovered on Sunday when I went to Hannah’s Kombucha Kamp –
Getting to USC takes me about an hour too, though that’s 13 miles from me. In any case, the Santa Monica to Culver City bus trip goes so slowly I wanna do it as infrequently as possible –
Which brings me to Green Drinks, which is tomorrow (deets on my calendar) in Culver City. Anna’s suggested biking it again — so that’s prolly what we’ll do. It’s a rather long distance on my pink townie, which is really intended for leisurely biking….
Which makes me think that what we really need is a Green Drinks Santa Monica.
After all, a new Green Drinks in Hermosa Beach, organized by one Nicky, has just launched! That one’s 7 pm on the 2nd Thursday of every month at Sangria, 68 Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach.
So Green Drinks Santa Monica, anyone? And if so, which bar?
Update, 2/07: A lil more planning on Santa Monica Green Drinks — and another reason why I don’t plan on taking the bus to Culver City anymore –

I don’t know which bar, but I’ll happily assist sampling ;)

Count me in! New to town, so don’t have a great bar suggestion. Sorry.

You should have it at the Bodega wine bar by Broadway and Lincoln. They have great happy hour (drinks + food) specials from 5-7 (which I guess would be kind of early, but…).
I almost set up a running happy hour there because of the specials and the big seating cove in the corner behind the bar.
And, no, I don’t work there, though I do think I need to go back (it’s been a long time).

Siel,
As to the 1-hour-to-Culver-City deal, maybe it’d help to do the part-bike-part-bus thing. I’m a big believer in it, personally, ’cause I hate waiting for switchovers from route to route (I find doing so often eats up the bulk of my transit time). As such, in most cases I prefer to simply bike to and from my main bus and avoid waiting for switchovers.
If you live in, say, Santa Monica, you might bike down the boardwalk to Venice Blvd. and catch a single bus there (and a frequent one, at that) that takes you straight up to Culver City. Boom. It’d save you a good chunk of time, and prolly cut the whole journey time down under an hour. Hopefully way under an hour.
That’s my guess, anyway. I could be wrong. I frequently am.

YES westside Green Drinks! Not that I don’t love nite ridin’….
Are there any bars that have organic wine or beer?
The library ale house is a certified green business….though crowded. Maybe we could find a down time there…hmm….
Maybe we should pick a few possible places, and a few of us do a bar hop bike cruise one nite, to scout out the best place.
